Hemmed in and set free

So often freedom is misunderstood. True freedom is not release from rules or regulation, for that is chaos and distraction. It is only when the water joins the river that it has the power to light a city. We may all be free to choose, but the man who runs a race along the path will win every time over the man who claims his "freedom" to run in a straight line to his goal, for that way leads through forests and over mountains and seas with no path cut before him. The car that races along the road's "freedom" will win over even the toughest 4x4 that chooses to make its own trail because it wants to be "free" to choose its own course. The 4x4 may only get as far as the first bog.
